Part of it is a culture thing. I see Europeans will be happy to spend 2-3 hours putting up an awning, add-a-room tent on the side of their campers, and another 2-3 hours taking it down. However, here in the US, we might have a weekend and a day off, so the goal is to park and spent only a few minutes setting up.
Another part is the tent shower. If I did that in most of the US, someone would be on their cellphone calling the county sheriff, local PD, the FBI, the EPA, and every LEO in between, claiming that the gray water is a toxic waste spill. Even dumping fresh water will get the local sheriff coming around to ask questions. Someone showering in a tent will also get people on the phone to the police about indecency with a child, lewd acts, and other things.
I think I might start another thread on this, but one way to fix this would be to have a pop-top campervan with an aisle shower. Pop the top, nudge a cover aside, shower in the center of the van.
