So in my rear most compartment on my coach I have a 20ft 50amp cord wound up in there. In the next compartment up is my RV Guardian 6500w generator. When I am at an RV park I unplug that 50amp cord from a receptacle that is in the same compartment. Then I run that cord out through a hole in the back of the compartment and to the RV parks 50amp service receptacle. I do not plug anything into the generator itself. When I leave the RV park I have to plug that 50am cord back into a receptacle inside its compartment to get A/C's etc to work. If I don't plug that into the recptical in its compartment none of the heavy load items will work even if the generator is running. I can run the generator without that plug being plugged into the wall but it powers nothing until that plug is plug into the receptical. Does that make sense? And does that mean I don't have a transfer switch? I was just kinda undertake impression that all Rvs work this way. At least every one I have owned have. And that's about 5 Rv's.
