Exercise Gen. with load when cold outside

Turn on the kegerator.

Space heaters. Do not turn on water heater if empty/winterized.

X4 or 5 on 1,500 watt electric heater (on high).

Start generator, allow to run for 5 minutes to warm up, turn on electric heater for one hour, turn off heater and allow generator to run for 5 minutes to cool down. Shut off generator.

Run the dryer.

I use two electric heaters set on low - on different circuits. I let mine run for about two hours.

Space heaters are your best potential loads. Makes for a nice continious load on the generator. Just stay with one heater per circuit breaker.

In addition to the above:

Turn on water heater
Turn on block heater
Switch refrig to elect
Turn on microwave with a large volume of water to be heated

Put on a pot of coffee....

This is what we do.

Me too, or use the heat pump or heat strip on the AC if it has one and the electric part of the water heater if equipped is another option.
