Why on earth would you not simply take it to a welder and have it welded shut? Shouldn't cost much to do or take more than a minute or two to fix, and will have no problems with either heat or vibration. If you go slathering epoxy or JB Weld or any other of the auto parts store exhaust system goos on it, you will have to repair it again fairly soon. None of them hold up long.
