exhaust extension small crack repair

I was under my DP looking around for any wiring or other issues and came across a small split in the extension connected to the muffler just before the chrome tip. It is only about a 1/2 inch long and what I would call a slit. What would be the best way to patch this spot for long term repair?

    JB Weld will not hold up to extreme heat....are you sure it isn't a factory slit....if its all the way to the end of the pipe where the chrome tip is....what does it hurt?

    JB Weld...Home Depot or any hdwe/auto parts store carries it. Use the regular, not the quik fix...mix it correctly and let it sit for 24 hours before running the engine....Dennis
