Exhaust

Lost the chrome end piece to my exhaust bouncing down the roads here in Alaska. Does it need to be replaced right away, or can I wait until we get to the lower 48 in a couple months?
  • does the exhaust pipe stick out from the MH,
    you might be OK

i lost the chrome extension on the DP, and the heat from the exhaust melted the control harness going to the generator

that diesel exhaust is HOT ! and dirty
    everything got much blacker

i think replace it as soon as possible is the best idea
  • Make sure it still goes past the edge of the body or you may be exposed to Co.
  • How to make your signature so we can serve you better:

    1. Log on and click "My Preferences".
    2. On the "My Preferences" page click the middle box and enter your rig info.
    3. Scroll to the bottom and click "Submit Changes"
    4. Exit and you're done.

Ditto. Now that's the bad news.
The good news.. You may find a suitable extension at a truck stop.
  • I lost mine too, and those pieces are expensive! To make sure it doesn't happen again, I had a welder friend tack mine onto the tailpipe. So far, so good.

Where are you? NAPA can have one out of Anchorage over night in most places.
  • The chrome ones are not as common as most think! I waited about a month to get one in BC! The one that showed up is not as good as the original either!

That said a large Truck Dealer or Heavy Duty Shop may have access to something that will do the job for now!
  • Just have them tack on a piece of tail pipe to go past the body of the rig and get a S/S one when you get home.
  • there are also many of those at Autozone. Some are screw on mounts too. Mainly you want to make sure the tailpipe is flush with the body.... Even if it's a couple inches you'll probably be okay. Main thing is you don't want exhaust going into the coach.
