Great idea to test out yellow vs. white.
I don't have AC, and that works fine for me, following the seasons.
My van gets hot soon after sunrise, if the east facing windows are not in shade. Hot enough to kick me out of the van in the middle of winter. A couple hours later, when the sun is on the roof, it's much cooler. I have not added insulation to the roof, but the stock setup is about an inch of airspace plus half inch of headliner.
Another consideration: In the warm areas you will be wintering in, almost all vehicles are white. Schoolbus yellow would make your rig stand out, be VERY eye-catching. If you think you might ever want to park overnight in an urban area (store parking lot, park, side street, etc.) you might want to blend in more.
YES you make a good point about sticking out. lol
I realize that if i decide on yellow.... that will definitely be an eye catcher.
I remember when I got my school bus yellow pick up truck..... people were always commenting on how much yellow is was. lol
I have always loved that color and wanted a truck that color but was told it was only a fleet color. so i gave up on it.... TILL... one day I passed by a dealer that had one on the lot.
for weeks i didn't go in because I just figured that i didn't need to buy another truck. lol finally..... i couldn't stand it anymore and went in to the dealer... as I suspected.... it was a leftover from a construction company order so they put it on the lot with the rest of the trucks.
it was a stripper.... crank windows and all.
I fell deeply in love the minute i saw it close up.
they had the truck for SOOOO LONG they were desperate to get rid of it.... so I got it for a good price as well. that was 8 years ago.... I still have it.... and she looks as good today as she did the day I got her.
but.... i can see the value of not having a yellow van. it makes sense.
STILL.... lol there is that part of me that REALLY wants that yellow.
i'll have to think about it more.
you do make good points..... let me see what the temp experiment says.
