Exterior of slide out floor is bulging.

If it's not one thing, it's another....

Today while walking around the outside of my Fleetwood Fiesta I noticed that the floor of one of my slideouts is sagging and the seam is coming apart.

What could cause this? What should I be worried about? And how can I fix it?

Thanks!

  • Upon closer inspection, it doesn't look like the floor is sagging at all. It's just that the outer lip of the bottom of the slide that usually flips upward and has become bent outward. Should be an easy fix
  • If it were mine, I would simply add a length of angle aluminum(not steel) across the entire slide and paint it black. My guess is any quick fix other than that will result in it happening over again....
  • Well I just used a pliers and bent it back in to place. That worked until I pulled the slide in and then back out. Now it looks exactly like it did before I "fixed" it. It doesn't look like there is mich for it to get caught in so I'm thinking it may be bending/flexing when the slide is operating.

Usually when I pull the slide in, the motor stops on its own when it is pulled in all of the way. Lately it doesn't stop completely. It just goes slows way down and continues to try to chug along. I wonder if it's continuing to try to pull the slide back in with enough force to bend it?
  • Thank you for sharing. I have a 2008 Fleetwood Feasta and the very same thing happened. All I did was fill the gap with silicon and screw everything back in place from underneath. I countersunk the head of the screw the best I could . It never move since.

What size/kind of screws did you use?
  • Oh my god.I don't remember exactly. Probaley something like #10 x 1 1/4 wood screw.Filling the gap with glue would be better
  • this is common problem use stainless screws in about 3/4 inch from sides the s crews i believe #10 1 inch long every 3 to 4 inches run a 1/8 inch pilot hole do not go to deep or you will go through floor. If you want exact screw length and location of screws I will measure mine as it was repaired about 8 years ago.
