d0n1, Looking at your fridg, I think it has a 12 volt compressor that runs off the battery when not hooked to shore power and when hooked to shore power there is a relay and small converter in that box on the bottom that converts the 110 back to 12v so as to not run down the battery. I guess you have a larger converter that keeps the battery charged and distributes 110v and 12 v.

EDIT to add that I haven't had mine out so I don't know if it has a 110v plug.:)
