Falcon 19 footer - 1986 - newbie with questions

I ran a salvage yard in the early 80's. Beetles back then DID have trouble with the battery placement. A lot of owners put the wrong battery in and burned their cars down when the seat frame shorted to the battery. Stock type batteries had a cover over the positive terminal but folks would use what ever was on sale and put a floor mat over it. During use, it would shift and up she'd go. I saw a bunch that were burned out and they usually started in the back seat.
