Leak tests are fairly simple. Mix up some soapy water and dribble in on each joint in the lines. If you see bubbles, there's your leak. You can also smell a leak. This is more problematic as you have to get close to sniff. Make sure you don't light a cigarette. Propane has a smell added to let you know you have a leak.
