Switched to Farmers in mid November last year. I had Progressive for my three private vehicles, motorhome, boat, and ATV. Another company for my home. Farmer's saved me approx 30% in the end for better insurance. I have only had a few comp claims over the years, no "at fault" accidents, but Progressive kept jacking my rates. I usually do a complete rebid every 3 years or check sooner if there is a big increase. I had been with Progressive many years. Despite all their proclaimed discounts, etc. they had become uncompetitive. The biggest savings were on my motorhome and homeowners.
No one else had beat Progressive or the other smaller "regional" insurer I had my homeowners with for many, many years. The Farmer's agent said I met the criteria of exactly what Farmers liked, hence the low rates...I guess that means someone that pays in, but virtually never extracts back out or has 'At Fault" accidents.
My experience with insurance is they start out lower, then keep edging it up year after year, even if you are a "perfect" client, until someone else hungry wants your insurance premiums more. The key is to periodically bid out all your insurance and see what comes back for pricing.
