Galveston has a State Park and there are several private parks as well. People like riding bikes and walking on the seawall built after the hurricane of 1900. There is Bishops Palace and old homes to see.To me the Galveston water is muddy looking compared to Fulton area due to the gulf currents and relation to the Mississippi River. If you want pristine looking water keep heading south to Laguna Madre and Padre Island. I live between Houston and Galveston on Galveston Bay. Just thought I would share some insight. Water in Fulton looks greener but still muddy.
