Answer, you will be sitting in a FEDERAL courthouse, your case being heard by a real life FEDERAL judge, since you are facing FEDERAL charges. See it happen all the time. The judge I know takes a very dim view of anyone who dis-respects the rangers and the rules of the park. He is well known as a hanging judge who routinely dispenses the maximum penalty. Once you get to pay a $10,000 fine driving off the pavement, most people will develop a bit more respect for those wannabees.
Had a friend get a ticket for 10 over in a national park in WA, buy the time all was said in done he was out over $ 3500. He recently got another, he did not learn his lesson. Hopefully he will this time, probably won't.
