Fiberglass pan floor oilcanning

Hi, On our recently purchased 1996 Roadtrek 190P, the fiberglass floor pan has what is best described as oilcanning. That is, every time one steps on it, it makes a noise as if it's come apart from the backing. We had techs look at it prior to buying it & they said it wasn't a problem. However, i would like to correct this if i can. Has anyone experienced this & if so, what did you do to correct it? Thanks, Gary

    Hi, i did a search for this similar issue. What was concluded was that it isn't a problem (structurally i guess). I'm thinking that i need to put down a sheet of plywood with vinyl on top & re-do the drain, in order to quieten it. Either that, or just live with it!

    That seems to be normal. I have seen that in a lot of "B" models that I looked at, and it is because the fiberglass isn't bonded directly to the floor, but it is supported.

    I'd say it would be hard to correct unless one could access it from the bottom. However, I'd be leery of gluing it down, since if it is held rigid, it may crack when the weather changes, and things expand/contract.

    Gary, this topic has been addressed here before and I have no idea about the design of the Dodge fiberglass floor, but in my 2002 Chevy the fiberglass floor also has is a small amount of flex. This flex has never been a problem and has not changed nor increased in all the years I have owned the RT.
