Fiberglass repair

On November 17th we had a tornado near miss that threw a lot of splintered 2x4s into our yard. Two pieces hit our 1996 Winnebago Itasca MH putting a small hole through to the inside and another just through the outer fiberglass skin.

Can anyone recommend a good fiberglass RV repair center in central Indiana? Our local body shops do not work on MH. My Progressive insurance deductable is down to zero so it is all covered by the insurance.

  • Sounds like the hole is in the composite sidewall. If it is the composite wall, you might want to have Winnebago do the repair while you wait. If the damage is in the fiberglass caps, then any boat repair can get the job done.

Any boat repair facilities in your area?
X-2, Boat repair shops work with fiberglass more than anyone else! Glad your O.K. Dave!
  • I'd call Precision RV in Bremen, IN. They paint coaches and should certainly have the capability to do those repairs. If they can't/won't do small jobs, they may be able to recommend a shop.

As noted, anyone who does fiberglass boats could do it or any collision repair shop that can handle a Corvette. Many auto body shops can do the work but don't have the facilities to handle a class A coach.

Another option is to call a Peterbilt, Volvo or Kenworth truck dealer. Most of them can tell you who they use to do similar repairs on their trucks.
