Filling Up A Gasser/Pump Limits
I know I'm probably opening myself up to a bunch of snarky comments, but I believe the only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked, so here goes... When I had my DP I could fill up my tank...

I use the Pentagon Federal Credit Visa Card. It is paid in full every month and I have a high limit. When we are leaving on a trip, I always call them to let them know where we will be traveling and that we expect high fuel bills for our motor home.
That said, when we go to a any gas station, the limits and number of times they will allow me to swipe my card are set by the STATION, and not Penfed, or Visa. I have been to some Flying J's with a $450 max for Visa and I have been to stations with a $50 max. I have been to stations that allow multiple swipes and been to stations that only allow one or two swipes of your card.
I used to call Penfed from the station if I was denied a multiple swipe, since I can actually talk to a person at Penfed. I would always get the same answer......it WAS NOT Penfed that was restricting my purchase. Since then, I just go with the flow and realize that it is something that I have to deal with. I will not leave my credit card with any attendant while I pump fuel so what I get at the pump is what it is. Most times I am able to fill up without hassle but occasionally I have to accept what I get and move on down the road.
