If you fill up at Shell don't re-swipe the same card more than once the same day or they will flag the card as stolen and make you see the attendant every time from that point forward.
I fill up multiple vehicles each day so I have 5 identical American Express cards with different card numbers but all on the same account cards say Dave1,Dave2,Dave3,Dave4,Dave5. Problem solved, I would have just gone to another station but the Shell near me is always 7-10 cents less than any other station in town.
