I will have to double check ours as I open it at least twice a year and have never noticed water or any leakage. But, I never expected it to leak either so I will check the seal.

Have someone stand outside and push or prepare to catch if it isn't but find out. I've never seen one that's not hinged but play it safe and find out. When your seconds from burning up is not the time to find out ( sorry , but that's just fact )

And/or carry one of these. We have one or something similar in every vehicle.

That's what I'm affraid of.. I don't see any hinges on the inside or outside. There is a row of screws along the top inside that looks like there could be a piano hinge inside the framework but I'm affraid to push on it.

Some are hinged, some fall out. on that model Coachmen, they likely used the cheapesr window meeting the safety spec. Turn the handles, push hard, it is gone for good. Like the escape windows in a bus. Although some of those now have just gone to chaining a hammer at the window.

My window also falls away when open with the red handles. Once o year I have a friend come over and go inside the coach and open the handles while I am out side holding the glass. I baby powder the seals and then we reclose the window. If I don't do this it will become like the one the salesman showed me back in 2004. He put all his weight against the window and could not open it and that was on a new coach.

If there is a fire, you won't have time to mess around setting up a escape .. A couple broke bones or sprains from a short fall of. 5 feet or less is better than the alternative the window won't fall out some hinge up , some sliding windows are wide enough they are just opened and designated fire escape with red handles

I also made an escape ladder for ours by shortening and modifying a commercial home fire ladder. Our escape window is fairly high off the ground. Modified ladder now hangs in the window quickly if needed and is stored right nearby under the bed. Just couldn't see the wife getting out and down from that window without some help.

The window should be opened/tested regularly to keep it from sticking shut..... :)
