I have an automatic AFFF system installed over the top of the engine and hope to never see how it works. All I do is check for bottle pressure on occasion. What I'm told is that when this thing goes off that even though the whole bottom is open that the expansion of the foam released will completely engulf the engine. Since its foam and not chemical, I'm told there is no subsequent damage (other than what caused it to trip) at all. Also have two auto-Halon on the fridge..
Isn't AFFF very corrosive to steel? If I remember correctly we had to flush all the lines with a lot of water when we ran it through them.
