Isn't AFFF very corrosive to steel? If I remember correctly we had to flush all the lines with a lot of water when we ran it through them.
Every Navy ship has an AFFF system and we all had to learn how to operate it. No one ever mentioned corrosive nature of the stuff. The ships I served on had two 50 gallon of so bronze tanks that stored the concentrate and all the piping was bronze. It's a really, and I mean really concentrated soap solution that get's mixed with water to make foam. Probably won't need much more than a few ounces along with a few gallons of water fill an engine bay with foam. Very effective on petroleum fires and will leave the engine bay spotless.
The stuff is biodegradable and has a very low toxicity. I would expect corrosive effects would be minimal.
