This thread brings up a lot of memories. Thirty years ago I converted a Chevy 3/4 ton van to a camping van. I bought a new van with nothing inside except the two front factory seats, which I replaced with nice conversion seats and added side windows and flooring. We had a couch that converted to a bed, a two way refrig, a cassette toilet, a sink with a little ten gallon water supply and demand pump. We used it for years and then got an Intervec Horizon which we enjoyed for many years. When we got the Horizon, we stripped the camping stuff out of the van we converted and used it for a hauler. That lasted until it just about gave up the ghost and we gave it to the Salvation Army. Lots of memories and lots of fun. Thanks for the thread!
One caution and important lesson I learned and have never forgotten: Don't do this kind of project in your driveway in August if you live in a hot area of the country!! Back then, we used fiberglass batting for the wall and ceiling insulations in the van. That was great going down your back in hundred plus, humid weather :)
