The mechanic said points, I don't know if dodge 440's had points but I really couldn't tell him to kick rocks and that I'd take it to another mechanic, the mechanic was a friend of the seller thus it was a discounted family favor. The coil looks as new as the fuel lines and filters. I would say its that plastic float bowl body or potentially automatic choke related.
When running both well and unwell it has steady and strong flow through the clear plastic fuel filter under the doghouse.
I just want the mechanic to call already and tell me its all taken care of that I'll be able to drive it home without any more grief from the motor.
For sure on the tires. I was too overwelmed with coasting to bother with tire age code, its in need of outside rear tires, the inners are good and the fronts are as well.
The timing is definatly advanced, I surmise this by it running too smooth and a lack of power. Witch tells me someone with no understanding of engine timing timed it by ear searching for absolute smooth rather than TDC. I can time by ear and have never been more that 2° off in either direction.
As for the T-junction off the "dizzy" It is capped. You just cant tell from the pix/resolution shown. I have checked all the vacuums and rubber lines under the doghouse.
Its a 1978
