Fleetguard complet blue longlife antifreeze for Cummins ISL

How long can one really go between antifreeze changes?

I had one guy tell me he never changes the antifreeze because of their makeup now. He just adds the DCA when needed to keep that up and that's it?

Your opinions please.

  • Here are two more that meet Cummins standard 14603:

    - Peak "Final Charge Global Extended Life"...I use this one.

    - Zerex "Extreme Extended Life"
  • Does this work?

Prestone® Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant is compatible with most antifreeze/coolants, regardless of color, for use in cars and light-duty trucks. This formula provides a high degree of performance durability and carefully balanced protection against temperature extremes, rust and corrosion of cooling system metals, including aluminum.

    Product Features:
Provides long-lasting protection for extended performance when added to extended-life antifreeze/coolant
Protects engine cooling system metals, including aluminum, against rust and corrosion
Free of silicate, phosphate, borate and nitrate
Meets or exceeds ASTM D-3306 and ASTM D-4985

This is the spec for the ISL 400? ASTM D-4985

At $12.47 on Amazon seems like it fits the bill?

Not trying to start an argument but if it meets spec, it should be fine, right?

    Just a question,

CAT markets one similar. Around $20.00/gal.

Correct. Caterpillar ELC is a put it in and forget it for 6 year OAT-based coolant. Most of us with Caterpillar engines have switched to this.
