On the right track. On my similar coach, it is the FS1022 that is mounted back on the engine and does indeed have a sensor the wires plug into. The FS1242 with the plastic bowl mounts in the easily accessible side panel so that you can check the bowl for water and drain it out as needed.
Sounds like someone on the OP rig did not have the 1242, so installed the 1022 instead. If that is the case, I suggest the OP order the FS1242B which includes the bowl and install that in the side compartment as the manufacturer intended.
