Well, since your asking for info without helping those who "might help" with specific year and model, your going to get the answers you've recieved. Things do change from year to year.
The excursion is not a model above the Discovery. It's a base model. Depending on the year, there was a Expedition model between the two.
But what I can tell you about the Discovery ( depending on year) it's a better more powerful engine based on the Cummis ISC class. The lower models have the ISB, less horsepower and torque.
Most share the same Freightliner chassis as the other lower models. Our Expedition has been pretty good. There was a main seal on the engine that was repaired after the first year under warranty ( 4 years ago). An idler pulley replaced. Other than that it's been fine in regards to the chassis and engine. Just do the required maintenance and all shoul be fairly smooth. If your buying, ask to see the maintenance records.
Fleetwood wise we've have issues with the hot water mixing valve going bad every two years. Some paint cracks that fleetwood repaired. Steps went bad, replaced motor. So only one of those (paint) was directly related to Fleetwood.
All said I believe we've had a decent record and less issue that some. But ... It's as good as anyone else's. More flashy stuff, the more can go wrong.
The discovery is a decent entry into the DP MH market.
Another reason for the age request is there's many things need to be considered. Tires, batteries, generator maintenance, engine maintenance as well as many other things. So yes, it matters.
