It was never was, and is not now, a mater of elitism. FMCA was built, run and dedicated to owners of RV's with engines only. It's no more elitist than having a Tiffin club club or a Keystone club.
Family MOTOR COACH Assn, now to be know as FMCA but with no real meaning, turns it from an organization dedicated to the Motor Home owner to just another Good Sam club. The average age of a FMCA member is 71 years and this age is killing the budget for their one actual benefit (if you are old enough) which is the FMC Assist. The goal of what will be a completely revamped business will be to draw in younger members to help pay for this benefit for older members. I can't see where the benefits to the younger members will come from since they likely already have "actual" benefits from the Good Sam group and their excellent camping discounts and Camping World savings along with a magazine that runs the gamut of the RVing lifestyle.
I never claimed that FMCA was rife with elitism as an organization or knocking it. I was responding to Mr Marks post of" I don't get it, the FMCA is allowing towables to join and that's a problem?"
That being said, FMCA has some amount of elitists as any organization does.
