So how many RV clubs are you going to join when they all offer the exact same stuff (or less). I joined FMCA in 1994 when I bought my 1st RV which was also a motor home. I found the information in the magazine helpful and informative. I also joined Good Sam for the camping discounts and the road service. I am also an Escapee for the mail service so what is left with this change that would make me want to remain an FMCA member? FMCAssist is the only reason FMCA made this change. They need young healthy RVers to join to help pay the costs for the current average FMCA member who is 71 years old. FMCA offers no substantial benefits for younger RVers and no camping discounts (OK, I think I have come across a couple of campground who offered and FMCA discount). Their road service is no better or worse than anything else out there and they do not offer any kind of mail forwarding services. This change will simply leave them as a shadow of their former selves. They should have spent the same amount of effort to increase their membership from the 70% of motor home owners who are not members rather than trying to sucker the younger RVer into joining a club that will have to re-invent itself from the ground up. FMCA will need to figure out how to offer these new members something they can't find elsewhere for lower annual fees by folks who have been offering these services for dozens of years.
I think this train has derailed and could be on a path to self-destruction.
