Foggedwindows

Up date on my post about my fogged window repair from Sun Coast. Got a new estimate today. Original estimate was for them to R&R windows and I was asking about me just bringing the windows in.
New estimate is $175.00 per window. Repair time is 1 to 2 weeks.
Think I will do it early next year.

I am only about 450 miles from Hudson Fl and its not a big job to R&R the windows and $875 is a lot better than $2600. The difference will buy a lot of Diesel. Figure about $400 for 2 round trips and it still a good saving.
    Don't know about the warranty.
    Thanks for the replies

I think there is some misunderstanding on that 2600. The four we had replaced cost a total of 854.13 installed and that included replacing the frosted glass on the bathroom one because of etching. That was three years ago but I am sure they haven't tripled in that time. You might give them a call and make sure you are getting a correct estimate for what you want done. Their definition of a window is what comes out when you remove it from the coach. For instance a window with a stationary and a sliding pane is considered one window even though they have to repair both panes. They are definitely NOT going to charge you 1700 to remove and reinstall the windows.

So it's $175 if you remove and bring them to the shop? Still high but a lot better than new.

Don't know about that....I ordered a new window from Atwood and replaced it myself cheaper than the repair costs I was seeing. All in, I had about $120 for the driver's side window pane that I replaced. Took about an hour to do the whole job. Just another perspective.
  • Each window will be closer too $300 to have them do the labor.
That is what it was in May 2013 when I had one done there.

So OP taking them in will save him around $175 a window.

  • Suncoast Warranty
We had them do four of ours three years ago and they remain A-1 perfect. They do a great job and are good people to work with. Personally, I wouldn't mess with the windows myself but drive the coach to them and let them do all the work (only takes a day or two and you overnight there with 50A electric on their dime - less chance of messing up the seals installing the overhauled units and I don't know what the warranty covers if you install the windows yourself.

Is there any kind of warranty after the work?
    Thanks for the update.
