If the fuel pump goes out on the trip I will just have to change it than. Going to bring all necessary tools with me to do the job on the road.
Wow .... can this be done when on a trip?
I thought the Ford V10 fuel pump was inside the fuel tank and that it was a fairly major job replacing it - emptying the tank, dropping it, changing out the pump, lifting up and rebolting the tank in place, and then refilling it with enough fuel to get to a gas station, etc.. :h
I am hoping not to have to change it but if I do I will do it myself. I have done much larger job on the side of the road to 18 wheelers. This would be a large job but I have look at it and there is a drain plug in the bottom of the tank an 5gal bucket will fit under it. So if it dose fail then I have a plan. I have changed the fuel filter today and it has started good the few time I have check it. I also had the wife turn the switch on and I can hear the pump running. So I am praying for a problem free trip. The wife always says that I cannot leave things along until they are broken or I find a problem. Thanks for all the feed back I am starting to like this forum more and more.
