Yup, the dirty MAF will cause a loss of power as the engine retards timing to try to control the pinging. However, it will only do so much, and if its dirty enough (really oil is the worse enemy) then it will still ping. Also, long-term lean running will accelerate spark plug wear, so you may have to change those out early.
