From what you describe, it sounds like a possible transmission problem. I believe if you have an ignition problem, i.e. bad coils etc., the system would be throwing up codes via the check engine light.

It is hard to tell from a computer screen what is really going on without being there. But if I had to guess....and it is only a guess...I would look towards the transmission for the problem.
