You should set in on AU - that is automatic meaning that if electricity is available, it will run on electricity. If there is none available, or the power goes out, it will automatically switch to propane. When power comes back on, it will automatically switch back to electric. This way as long as the frig is working properly, you don't have to worry about a power outage when away from the rig.

My Dometic has only 3 settings: Off, Automatic and Gas Only. It is (and has been) on Automatic since installation. No need for the Gas Only. The system gives PRIORITY to "shore power" (electric) but automatically shifts to gas (propane) when there is no electricity. (This includes the electricity powered by the generator if you have one). And, of course "Off" when not being used.

It could be air in the gas line .. Light the stove first to get the air out of the line .

Side note: The majority of the time, most people leave theirs on AU (automatic) so that when going from driving to campground and back it's seamless.

There is an occasion where it can be an advantage to force it to gas operation instead of automatic. That occurs when you're at a campground with only 20 or 30 amp power and you need to run other high draw items like a heater. By forcing the refer to gas operation only, you save the amperage needed to run the refer.

DW reports that it is working fine on AU. I kept calling her and telling her to test various things, since I couldn't be there. (Does the tv work? How bout the dvd player. how bout the hot water, how bout...) Everything else seems to be working fine. We're taking our first 6 day trip next week, I can't wait!

Just remember that the freezer will get cold before the frig.

Also note that the the rig needs to be level, and it should be on for 24 hours before adding the food. Also DON'T over fill it. It need airspace around the items inside to keep things cold. (Our usual mistake)
