From diesel to gas.

Agreed, it must be an opinion based on very old or a base level coach.

I did a 3 hour shakedown cruise in mine today (in preparation for a 4,000 mile trip next week) with a buddy who’s never been in motorhome. He was most impressed that the wind noise was louder than the engine noise. I’ve never noticed any issue with heat either.

I think they do make gas pushers, but I may be mistaken.

After having several gas motorhomes we got our first DP in 2001. Had it for 7 years and loved it, but sold it and switched to a large 5th wheel to save some money on maintenance, licenses, insurance, etc. Two years later we decided motorhomes were better for us, so we went back to a gas motorhome. After having the DP, we were just never as satisfied with this new gasser as we were with our first DP. The DP had a better ride, less noise, and more space (storage and living). Went back to a 40' DP about 1 1/2 years ago and are glad we did. The cost of ownership is more, but the comfort level is worth it to us.

Thanks for the info. I did not know JD made a pusher chassis.
Maybe the UFO chassis would have been popular if the 8.1 remained in production?

Old John Deere pusher chassis used the Ford 460. I have no idea why John Deere stopped making RV chassis.

The UFO chassis had the GM 8.1L, which was discontinued shortly after the UFO was introduced. Since Workhorse had their existing GM partnership, using the Ford V10 was probably a non-starter, and the GM 6.0 doesn't have enough torque for a large motorhome.

I have only seen one over the years.

Having owned a 40' PD in the past, I'd say diesels are highly overrated.

Well I'll give it a shot. Going on two years now we went to a gas C from a 40' DP. Gave up a bit of space but still have reasonable storage, a walk around bed, two 32" TV's. We came down in size to a 31 to get into smaller spots we like, state parks, national Forest CG's and this give more options for the had to get into CG's as there are more spaces to fit. Don't see much mileage difference and have the same toad. Power wise I pass many DPer's going up the pass's out west and only see a power difference on the high 8000' pass's as the DPer's have the turbo to keep the power up. Happy with the gasser but one must look for the RV that suites you. Cost on the gasser for maintenance is down quite a bit from the diesel. We carry a bit less **** we don't use as bay storage is down some.
