My brain was in freezer mode---din't really think RV. Then I thought of drainage tubes (in both home units and RV units). Jumbled both together for a reply.
Won't help OP...but still a good idea to make sure the condensation tube in the FRIDGE is draining correctly outside the back of the RV. Especially if the fins are getting covered with lots of frost...or that pan in the back is filling with water. Can be the difference in a few degrees of coolness/
AND if your home self-defrosting unit is building up ICE----check the drain tube.
I posted my post below, before THIS post showed up. But, to your answer on the Build up of Ice on residential units. The problem is either the defrost timer(very rare) or more likely, the Defrost Heaters in the freezer coil are bad. Doug
