frozen cover

Uncover the engine exhaust. Start the engine and turn on the dash heater. Might add a space heater inside if you can reach it with an extension cord.

Are you able to expose the furnace vents? (You do not want it building up under and melting the cover) run it on a high setting and let it set for several hours so the heat can penetrate the roof. (Say 80 degrees or so).

Next winter.. DO NOT COVER.

And of course it's fun to figure out what to do with the cover once it's off. I usueally keep it in a lage bin on wheels, but it was full of ice and snow. I put it in the garage to thaw but still can't put it away wet. UG. Hating winter

I had mine covered too. In anticipation for a trip next week I took it off this weekend. About 6" of snow encased in ice. Was not fun. Calling for more snow this week, but all I have to do now is broom it off. I am not sure what I would do if it were frozen on. Heat may help but it will take a while for sure. Be careful on the roof. Snow and ice make a dangerous situation very risky. I crawled on my hands and knees and still almost bit it. Seriously considering moving to fl.

I almost had to put a long sleeved shirt on this weekend here in Ocala, FL. LOL Glad I moved out of the ice/snow area of the NC mountains.

Good suggetions BUT the MH is at a storage yard outside with snow everywhere,The house Batteries are in the garage on battery tender so starting the genny up to get heater going is out of the question,And I would need a real long extendtion cord to plug into my house,They are talking possible rain Thurs which may help,I may crawl on roof to remove any loose snow that I can BUT if I fall there won't be no vacation Maybe get a portable Generator to run heater-Thanks Rich

I've got the same problem. Never had this before in Pittsburgh area at this time of year. 8" on ground and near 0 every night. Gonna try the furnace on Thursday. Supposed to hit 36.

If you run the furnace, be sure that the cover is clear of the furnace exhaust. Burning the cover is one way to defrost the ice but I wouldn't recommend it. :)

Last winter, when an unexpected improvement in my wife's medical condition allowed us to leave the cottage for Florida early, I ran the furnace in the coach for two days to defrost the cover so I could remove it. This year, I didn't cover it and kept the snow shoveled off with a plastic "coal scoop" so we could leave right after her last checkup. I only started the heat one day ahead this time, so I could fill the water tank and load the items that shouldn't be frozen.

Might try turning the heat up for a few hour and see how well the roof is insulated. I would wait until later this week though with the negative degrees forecast for the next couple of days.
