Physics dictates that 10 properly designed and implemented cylinders must, and will, always trump 8 properly designed and implemented cylinders with respect to idle vibration/smoothness. I've owned many, many V8's over my lifetime and the DW's top of the line Lexus sedan V8 comes close to the motorhome's Ford V10, but doesn't quite beat it.
V8's always "thump". My V10 does not. ;)
