But was the test "really, really valid"???
Maybe, just maybe ... the driver of the Ford chassis did not (dare - for lack of a better term) rev up the V10 adequately to fully tap it's horsepower???
I would think, and hope, that the drivers of both vehicles just floored the accelerator and let the transmissions do the shifting.
I used to own vehicles with both engines, a 1998 30' C with the V10 and a 2005 2500HD with the 6.0. Pulling roughly the same combined weight up my steep driveway the motorhome went effortlessly where the truck would really grunt. This could be a function of the Ford's lower axle gearing and smaller tires, but even though the V10 had less hp (265 vs 300) it had considerably more torque at a lower rpm (420 at 2750 vs 360 at 4000). This probably made it climb steep hills easier. I never drag raced the two, but the Chevy could pull hills at 65 mph in second gear, where the Ford could not because it was geared too low, forcing a shift to 3rd and then not being able to maintain speed. I've seen the video and beleive that the Chevy won the "races", but I've often wondered why the Chevy has a considerably lower GCWR.
