You're correct - I've never driven a Class C with a Chevy V8 in it. My only Chevy V8 is the one in my Z71 4X4 GMC pickup I've had for 18 years.
However, our traveling friends have the same size Class C as ours with only a lowly Ford 460 V8 in it. When they're leading, I have to keep my foot light on the V10 accelerator all the time to keep from rear-ending them. When we're leading, I have to keep my foot light on the V10 accelerator all the time to keep from losing them.
I guess Chevy V8's must also be vastly superior to the good old Ford 460 V8. :)
I doubt they are vastly superior to either Ford. But they are not inferior either, which is what some people are suggesting. From what you are saying, I think the Chevy would dust the 460. I have the same size C as you, and mountains are very low effort for it.
