Fuel delivery issues carbureted Ford 460
Engine is flooding, backfired and blew muffler apart, has an electric fuel pump

It is a 460 with a 4180 carb built by Holley. I was told there were issues with vapor lock and Ford put a “fuel vapor control valve” on these units that is supposed to return fuel to the tank, I am thinking it may be the problem but can’t find any info on them. My local dealer says they are obsolete.
