On our Safari, the vent line was 8" too long which formed a drip loop and materially slowed fill rate. Discovered this when the vent line developed a crack (leaked fuel when filling). Fixed it when I replaced the line with new diesel tolerant line.
Inexpensive and made a big difference.
Yeah, I did the whole vent line dance in December after reading one of your posts on the subject. Removed the rubber hose between the fill and the tank, blew it out with air, snaked the fill and tank side, and re-installed the rubber hose with no sag. It thought it made a difference, but then, as you remember, I ran out of fuel because the inaccurate calculation of consumption based on partial fills.
So now I stand there and listen for the gurgle.
