full body paint question

Saw a super class c at the thor dealer a few days ago and it had a full body paint , it looked good, but my question is is it worth 9k for it and is it as durable as a new car paint finish.

  • We have full body paint and love it, but our 7 year old rig is stored indoors where the paint will never fade. I can't say how the rig would look in 10 years out in the elements all the time.

I would think you could negotiate that $9000 down to $6000 as that is one feature where there is a lot of negotiating room.

If you examine the rig, you will see that it is not an automotive paint job. The paint is not sprayed inside like a car body is, and it is painted over structural caulk. Ours has clear caulk over the paint around detail items like marker lights and such. It sounds ugly but it really looks fine. It can't be like a car or the paint work would cost more then the rig. Still it is very nicely done. I find it remarkable how all those swirls and such are so well done and matched up on irregular and mismatched surfaces.
  • Thanks to all that have responded so far answers are very. much appreciated.
  • With the increased popularity of having vehicles wrapped I am curious of the cost difference. My 09 Cambria looks new ,came with the full paint. BIL's race car transporters are wrapped and after many years of abuse show

no color fading or discoloration. Don't need to wax either.
  • Full body paint is far better than faded peeling decals and yellowed fiberglass. But $9,000 extra seems very costly.
  • It's strictly for looks and nothing else.
Only you can decide if it's worth $9,000.
If you want it and can afford it then go for it and congratulations on a good looking rig.

If it's a border line decision... I find lots of units without full body paint that look just fine. In fact I have one that is 14 years old and still looks great.
  • We had a Class C with full body paint. It looked sharp and we had countless compliments on how good looking our unit was. To us it was well worth the cost. Others may not think so.

If I was ordering a new MH. It would have full paint. My 10 year old MH looks very good. But when I wax it. It's easy to see where the shinny area are fading. Painted areas do not show any fading.
  • It should be if taken care of. Worth it? Only you can decide that
