Fully electric RV, diesel generator, RV of the future?

How about an RV with a small diesel engine for propulsion, and electric supplemental power for hills? The existing on board generator could supply the power for the electric motors on hills, together with any necessary battery assistance.
Since you typically charge up every evening at the campground (if full hookups), this would seem to be a pretty sustainable method.
