sure glad i kept reading the thread.
about 8 years back i brought up a similar discussion about diesel-electric MHs on this forum. it met w/ a lot of naysaying, too.
pretty sure the OP just got what he wants from RCTime. just add an RV coach to this and you're there

all electric locomotives with overhead powerlines preceded their diesel electric cousins, IIRC. very effecient.
nickolas tesla is reported to have pulled electricity out of thin air to power a car.
in near future, we might see these oldie-but-goodie ideas combine with elec wires embedded in the roadway and wirelessly charging vehicle batteries.
and there's always fuel cells...
