  • Went on a 61 day cross country 8500 mile trip this summer, going to be using it like that for the next years, a second bathroom and bunks and washer and dryer would be great. 4 people 2 dogs a little extra space would be good to, also tow a jeep liberty.
  • Operating costs are higher no question so if you are very sensitive to $$$ than gas is probably a better way to go.

    I budget ~1000.00/yr for oil/tranny/coolant/filters/etc. Gas, what perhaps 5-600.

Wow you out grew that fast..
  • I bought a gas motorhome and used it for two years. Test drove a DP and traded the gas rig in. Only benefit to the gas rig over the DP is it was cheaper. If money is an object then go with gas. If you can afford the DP and you plan on using it a lot, then go for the DP.
  • After having several gas and now a diesel, I will never, ever, ever, go back to gas.

The difference is like night and day. I kick myself for waiting so long to go diesel.
  • I was all set to get a gas unit, drove it, wasn't thrilled with the ride or brakes.

Drove a Palazzo, world of difference.

    Oil every 15,000, 16 quarts + filter

after warranty repairs will be higher, but the upside is worth it.

    Drive one.
  • What size coach are you thinking about? Anything over about 36', go with diesel. 36' or less, if you aren't going to climb the Rockies several times a year, then gas will do just fine.
