Update:
Finally gave up on finding a good used stator and bought a new one for approx. $360, including shipping. Installed the stator, ran and tested the genset and then re-installed it in the coach.
Runs like a champ, with good voltage output and only did one little mod as a result, which was to extend the starter solenoid's hot wire onto an insulator out in front, for better access if and when it's needed.
