Here's a couple of suggestions:
How are your batteries? The generator won't start if your batteries are weak. If the batteries are OK, open the generator compartment and try hitting the fuel primer for a few seconds(not too much, you can flood the fuel system), then the starter. You can also try manually moving the choke lever. Also, check that the winter/summer lever is in the correct position for the climate you are in (since you are in Florida, it probably should be summer). Of course, you should also check the oil.
