I keep it simple...
I run two HD 50-foot extension cords into the house from the trailer. One goes to the fridge area and the other goes to the home entertainment area... I run a couple of lights and a window fan if it is warm outside. In the winter I run the fireplace fan...
I am running both of these 120VAC conections from a Power Inverter in the trailer running from my trailer battery bank. I can last just fine until around 8AM the next morning at which time I run my 2KW Honda Generator to re-charge my trailer batteries back up to their 90% charge state.
We cook from the COLEMAN ROAD TRIP grill setup or the propane stove top in the trailer...
This is the same as I do when camping off the power grid...
Have lots of experience doing this haha...
Usually have a big crowd sitting around the patio area all watching HDTV using the OTA Broadcast antenna setup - A regular block party
The problem I usually have is I never have enough gasoline on hand to go more than a few days to run the generator and have to go find a gas station that has power ON to run the gas pumps. I do have the Oklahoma Credit card on-hand to suck gas out of my truck if needed...
Have done this a couple of times for up to several days off the power grid due to local hurricane going through the VA area knocking out power since 2009... One other time we had a long outage was due to icing over of power lines which had us off the grid for three days.
Good to have the off-road POPUP trailer sitting in my back yard all the time...
