As often as the Onan manual says to. - rgatijnet1Explorer IIIEvery year or every 250 hours sounds about right.
- TrackrigExplorer IIOnce a year like you would the main engine unless you put a lot more miles on it than most people. I run the same oil in both engines so there's no chance in mixing something up.
I was changing the generator air filter every year but after examining them (I get 50 - 60 hours a year on it) after the change, I've gone to every other year.
I get my oil changes done at Speedco and I prefer to take my own filters. They don't always have generator filters on hand. I prefer the Onan and Cat filters. They usually want to substitute another brand of fuel filter that doesn't have the bowl on the bottom.

How often should I change the oil in my Onan generator?
every one is different some go by hours some by time passed (months/year)
I go strictly by time(hours used) every 150 hours is my preference
because I don't use the gen set hardly at all iam good for 4-5 years at that rate
opinions will vary to each their own - IvylogExplorer IIII change my 10K every 250 hours.
