I also have the Emerald Plus 4K. It can be an aggravation when it wont start. I recently had a no start issue. I played with it a while, cleaned the carb, and it started and did fine throughout the trip. I replaced my voltage regulator about a year and a half ago. The symptom was that it would start and run as long as the start button was held down. As soon as it was released the engine would quit.

You may have fuel and spark and still have trouble starting that thing or, at least I have. Sometimes it doesn't want to start, I fool with it for a while and it runs great for the rest of the year. I can't explain it. I know that from time to time I mess with the altitude setting on the float bowl and that will help it start. Whatever.. Mine's a 1990 model so, I try to keep it going for the next trip but, if it finally lays down for good I'll just move on to something else. We go to the beach a lot and the powdery sand gets in everything.

We have a Generac generator in our 2011 coachman and just had the same type problem. We were dry camping and needed it to work. It turned out to be the fuel pump was only working when it wanted to. Had it replaced and all is well now

Will it not start at all or does it not keep running after you let off the starter switch?

Cleaning the carb doesn't always work requiring the purchase of a new carb to remedy issue. While some have experienced problems we run whatever 85/86 octane ethanol fuel we have available in our neck of the woods and never an issue going on 7 years. Add Stabil when fueling and a bit of Seafoam every now and again and she cranks right up, worse thing for an Onan is lack of use which might be the culprit for your current dilemna.

When we had a 5er and was having the same problem we spoke to the Onan Dealer/Shop in Tucson, AZ. They told us they were having problems with the carb & the E10 fuel. They said they were unsuccessful in getting the carb to clean up and had gone to a Replacement policy only. The Cleaned carbs just would not work. This was one of the major reasons we went to a diesel rig including gen.

Best bet is go to flight systems .com as they have a troubleshot guide that will take you thru the diagnostics from A to Z. also is a great source for replacement parts. I called and spoke to them to clarify some easy questions that my brain couldn't comprehend. real nice people.Helped me greatly.
Mine was a voltage regulator, enough spark to make it look good, but not enough voltage. After zeroing in on it I sent it to them for testing(there is a fee associated with testing) and upon confirmation that it was NG. They applied the diagnostic charge towards the cost of a replacement one . Good Luck
